Hey There,
How does an ex-professional performer, aerobics instructor and primary school teacher get involved in home staging and styling?
What a good question!
All About Me
Even though I didn’t realise it at the time, I grew up surrounded by creative people. My father was a carpenter and my mother sewed, painted, wallpapered and created macrame. I just wasn’t interested……..YET!
Skip forward to having had my first child and due to a lack of funds, I started to paint rooms, fences, weatherboards, and furniture in our home. We then went on to build a new home which I designed, painted inside and out, and decorated. I had unleashed a monster!! I became obsessed.
Twenty years later and I am still obsessed with staging and styling. Every house I go into, I imagine where I would knock walls out and re-model!
I have renovated properties, studied Interior Design, and styled homes for sale.
Why The Name Mz Scarlett Interiors?
Well, quite frankly, DJM Interiors, sounded too boring and unmemorable.
My favourite book, I’d say without hesitation is “Gone With The Wind”, which follows the main character, Scarlett O’Hara’s, journey during the Civil War. Scarlett’s desire to return to her family home, Tara, is a constant theme throughout the novel. It is an unrelenting yearning.
Isn’t that how we want to feel about our home – even just a little bit?
You open the door and suddenly, the chaos in the world is left behind and you step into your haven – no stress, but happy, calm with that sense of “coming home”.
Well, that’s what I can do for your home, whether you are staging for sale and want it to be the one that people remember from looking at Open Houses all weekend, because there was a magenta couch in the study,
or,
just because you need some personality in your home that you are staying in because times are hard and buying another house and paying stamp duty is, quite frankly, out of the reach of a lot of people.
Similar to Scarlett O’Hara, who longed to return to her safe haven and happy place, you too can find your own “Tara”.
